You might have heard of this city while reading about celebrity vacation spots. The city is beautiful and attractive but the recent increase in the crime rate has left it crippled. Crimes such as murders, kidnapping and rape are very common.
9. Sao Luis, Brazil
Crime index of this city is as high as 84% and the crime rate has been increasing dramatically over the past three to five years. Walking alone during night is a completely impossible thing to happen without being mugged. Even the day time is not safe enough to be alone. Street crimes are very often and things being stolen from the car and off the people are recurrent. The city also has a high rate of corruption and bribery.

Some of the major crimes in this area are rape, murder, mugging, robberies, thefts and assaults. Such large number of tourists presents a greater opportunity to these criminals. There have been 1 million homicides in the previous three decade history of Brazil. Even though the drug usage is significantly lower compared to other countries, Brazil still suffers from violent crimes especially in Rio De Janeiro.

Mexico is already very notorious for its drug trafficking and gangs which are violent and pretty much in control of the country. But there is this particular city of Mexico whose crime and violence rates are off the charts. The city itself is beautiful but is not recommended to tourists due to its hostile environment and a tight net of drugs. The city could have been a paradise resort for tourists with its beaches instead it is infested with people involved in homicides, mugging and theft.
